Also the best time to go is on the shoulder seasons - spring and autumn. Summer is a bit of a nightmare in terms of crowds.

Exactly - my wedding is in August, but we're not going to go until late September/early October. I'm not interested in fighting crowds. Plus, I think fall temperatures are just right. There's a reason I'm not going anywhere tropical for my honeymoon (besides the fact it's overrated, I've already been, and I could go anytime).

No. 1: Do not use GPS and go around the country you lie in a choatics way: sure you find something gorgeous!

No. 2: Friends, ask friends (like in tihs forum listen to friends, go to friends' party (I was invited some time ago to a party here poggioaimerli.com and was quite gorgeous!

Where should I go?

I've started to plan for next fall, and we've talked about taking a short cruise through the Mediterranean (sp?) and then renting a car and driving through various countries.

Bad idea? Better ideas? Never been and I want to do it right. It's going to cost a lot of money, we're not the backpacker types.

I absolutely must go to Italy (long time dream). I'm game for suggestions of any other place I should see.
