I agree that socioeconomic and racial segregation often LOOK the same, but I think there IS a difference. In one, the message is "you aren't EVER going to belong here, no matter what you may achieve"; in the other, the message is "you can fit in once you HAVE achieved".

But I don't think this has anything to do with Frasbee's swastika.

Clever. The other side is: If you're not the right race, you can't get on the bus in the first place, much less belong to it or be accepted in it. Seems you think our (USA) culture does NOT comprise a racist society. I, respectfully, disagree. America is VERY racist.

I agree that on the whole, America is very racist, especially in that vast area between New York and Los Angeles. I am referring only to Los Angeles. Yes, racism exists here, but as I see it, it is REALLY a class issue. Low income whites, blacks and Hispanics are competing for opportunities at economic advancement, and that is why they hate each other. Those who rise above the poverty level find they are less hated than they imagined they would be, although I suspect they are always more sensitive to perceived "racism" than is strictly necessary. On the other hand, there is much more religious discrimination than i remember when I was growing up. Perhaps I was simply unaware of it then.

Now that you mention it.

There were walls around some neighborhoods. I was staying in one of those. It was the most bizarre thing I'd ever seen. They said it was for security reasons but it was all asians in that neighborhood, hell, the asians even had their own library, and their own schools!

It sickens me because the way I saw it, these people segregate themselves try to preach how diverse they are.
