The pull out method can be very effective, if you're both well informed about your body. There is only a 72 hour (3 day) window when your fiancé can conceive around when she ovulates. If she's very regular, she can map out her most fertile days of the month. Those would be days to avoid unprotected sex if you're not trying to have a baby.

Also, for you, if you're not a "leaker" (don't produce a lot of pre-cum. some men will only have a bit when they become hard, while other men will continue to leak during sex) and know when you're going to ejaculate long enough to pull out...this can be an effective form of birth control.

I speak from using the pull out method for 4+ years, while not on birth control, when in a long term relationship. Of course, accidents can happen and woman can ovulate more than once in a month. So it can be risky.

We had sex outside the fertile window and conceived our daughter. Thankfully, we were fully prepared for pregnancy to occur - we just didn't expect to happen so quickly and easily.
Never regret anything that has happened in your life. It cannot be changed, forgotten or undone. So, take it as a lesson learned and move on.
