Eco, it's pretty cool that you are questioning these things. Keep questioning. Even te skeptics will tell you that, but let your gut lead you. That's animal instinct that cannot be reasoned away, though it can be silenced after many years of training. I find that when I pay attention to it, instead of ignoring it, I stay out of more trouble.

Okay. Let's do a thought experiment here. Just for fun, let us assume that ghosts/spirits/whatever exist.

Tell me then, what is it that those whose minds are 'closed' are actually missing? According to you, I'm missing the heebie-geebies from talking to dead relatives and things that apparently attack unpredictably. That sounds absolutely terrific, Doc.

Maybe those who minds are 'closed' are at an advantage. Undistracted by things they cannot control and mentally focussed. Even buddhist monks (who claim ghosts exist, btw) recommend they be ignored in order to 'prevent them having power over you'. They subscribe to a form of mental discipline on the subject, however misguided the underlying assumption. So, seems to me skeptics simply bypass the need to even acknowledge the existence of ghosts, etc. Efficient, don't you think?

Really, what good is it? Are these spirits able to better help me find a cure for disease, or pick successful stocks, or provide me the formula for warp-drive? I've never heard of anyone who produced a work they were themselves incapable of creating and give a ghost credit for it.

So, I say they are welcome to stay out of my mind & distract those who are more 'sensitive'. I've got better things to think about. If they exist, well, they are dead. They have all the time in the world to wait until I am likewise pushing up daisies. I'll chat with them all they want then.

Yes, it is because your mind is closed that you will never see anything paranormal and ghosts will never attack you. It's the way of the universe to punish you for not believing.

Exactly. I live a pretty good life. Its hard to imagine how paranormal things would enrich it.

The only thing that would be remotely fun would being a telepath. Except I think that most people's thoughts would be incredibly boring or worse. So, I doubt even that would be a blessing.
