It picks up whether something is salty or sweet but I do not believe you will know the true taste of what you smell with the front tip of tongue. Now the middle and back of the tongue can pick up what you smell. Us females have it harder than you guys. Try holding your breath because it is the nose smell receptors that are probably making you sick....
