It is a stupid line....I always figured that the "Its not you, its me" line should be followed up with of an explanation of exactly what that means so the person isn't left ripping their hair out wondering what the hell really happened.
At least one of my ex's had the balls to say "Im not happy anymore, and neither are you." Couldn't really argue that point.
So, Necrid, just tell yourself....yeah, honey, it IS you, you are the one who's going to miss out on THIS! And don't feel sorry for it.

Same line my ex used, except it was really abt her. She explained why it was her and I accepted it.

She was not sure of what she wants to do with her life before making a commitment to our relationship. She was away doing an attachment in another country. So here I was patiently waiting for her no matter how long she took. Problem she was not sure how long she'd be gone. She didint want me to keep on waiting for something which might never return.

Still life goes on, many fish in the sea, leaves in the tree, etc etc Never Give Up the Chase... I guess everybody loves this quote "Things happen for a reason"
