thank you for your opinion. You can debate something to find out where exactly you are wrong. Apart from that: I did study business psychology so I have some limited knowledge about the typcial ilnesses. If you get angry because of a friendly discussion then maybe you should not take part in it?
Medical treatments btw treat the symptoms of mental illnesses not the cause. So the medical treatment for ocd will likely help against controlling behavior too.
melancholia thank you for clarifying. You are ofc correct. However Id rather see illness (and as such ocd) not as a state but a continuum. (meaning you can have a little OCD and a huge OCD).
Ofcourse you can be controlling for just the sake of your own pleasure (and I didnt think about that before). That would be VERY different from ocd.
However If you control someone for the (irrational and or exaggerated) beliefs you hold then it is an OCD, right?
In this scenario this seems to be the case.
The OP specifically stated that he guy is obsessed with things being "dirty" and "breeding bacteria" and the like. We can notice the obsessive thoughts there.
Meaning I would assume that he is not going anal for the fun of it (pun intended) but he is being controling because of the (obsessive) thoughts he has regarding hygiene and bacteria.

If you think I am insulting you with my post or bashing you: You do not get the point.
I am not here to insult or bash anyone. I offer up my free time to help. Take from my post what is useful to you.
If you are angry about my post or myself, then please stop and think how that happened. Usually that is the way the brain responds if a critical belief system is challenged (its called cognitive dissonance). If you have trouble with it please answer in the thread. I will come back to you.
