lmao. I'd never think of disturbing someone who was in the library to study. Most of the computers in there are being used to check myspace and there's also a coffee shop thing in there now.

The club thing is a good idea, but I'm not going to go out of my way to meet girls. I can use the library as a place to read and study. I can't think of too many clubs I'd be interested in devoting my free time to that females would be into.

I dunno, it's rough seeing so many gorgeous ladies and feeling so helpless. I guess I should just grow a pair and try it out.

    thanks for the advice,
    Mr. E

I wish we had a smiley that was throwing up.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Well, great effing luck to you, then. Most engineering students are just covered with women all the time anyway. No reason to try.

I think I was misunderstood. What I meant is that I'm not going to join a club just to meet girls.

One of my sisters runs a computer software development company. She is the one who tells me that these guys don't know how to talk to real, live women. They DO, however, like to look at porn sites while at work, and she gets to be the one to reprimand them.

Tell your sister that she needs to meet more computer guys. I know I am not the best at socializing, but when I open up I have very little problems if at all talking to girls in general.

In the library, if you see her reading a book, approach her and say "excuse me, sorry to bother you, but do you know where these librarians put the 'engineering' books?" If she knows where it is, she might lead you to the shelf where those books are, therefore giving you more time to talk to her.
Another option. Say she tells you she doesn't know where the book you are trying to find is located. Have a quick glance at the book she is reading and tell her "hmm...judging by the cover of the book you are reading, that book seems interesting. what is it about?" If she thinks you are descent looking, it's more likely she'll be willing to talk to you. Cuz let face it, even women DO care about looks too. If you're not her type, don't sweat it, there are other fishes in the sea.

Or if they are just standing next to you, not reading a book they just chillin, go compliment them on their outfit or jewelry. I suggest you don't compliment any part of their bodies or even their hair, they are just going to feel harrassed or think you are weird. But once again, women DO care about looks too. If you're not her type, don't sweat it, there are other fishes in the sea.

^ That's gotta be some of the best, most straight-forward advice I've gotten so far.

and Derm, Mr. E is a clever little name because it sounds like 'mystery' which is what my identity is. Good stuff, huh?

That leaves me with meeting girls through class (engineering doesn't provide too much opportunity), parties, and via friends. However, I'm not nearly as shy as I used to be and I've realized that a lot of these pretty ladies inhabit the library on campus quite often.

What are your thoughts on a stranger approaching you in the library or on your way to class? Obviously, I'll have to come up with some sort of an attention-getting ice breaker (not a line, but something unique to the situation).

    Thanks,
    Mr. E
Approach when ever and wherever... just avoid places like female toilets and cash ATM
