Nowadays...."horror movies" are comedy to me. It's like Im immune. I can tell whats gonna happen next cuz they all do the same damn thing lol.
"Saw" movies arent really horror, but I am definitely a fan(Lookin forward to Part V on Oct. 24th!!!)
I liked the Grudge, Skeleton Key wasnt scary but ****ed up,The Ring(just the part where she came out the tv..I jumped the hell out my seat LOL), when I was younger, there was a movie called Darkness Falls about this toothfairy(it sounds dumb I know), but that movie had me scared of the dark for months. There's sooooo much cuz my fav. types of movies are horror movies, but lately I've been let down....I'm thinking on switching to a new fav.

Ladie, have you seen "The Descent"? That is one of my favorite horror movies. Scary and action-packed.

Yea I loved that movie I watched it soo much times lol. The time it premiered in the movies I went to watch it. As SOON as the action started, a lady turned on the lights and said "Someone's car is on fire in the parking lot"...I laughed I was like wow. It was so funny how as soon as the action was done(this was the part when they first saw those "things") thasts when the light went back off. I heard this guy behind me say "I want back my $6.50!" lol it was funny. But I watched it again at home with the dvd and I still love that movie.
Another movie I liked was 1408. Have you or anyone else seen that?

Decent was pure shit. i think I haven't seen real horror. I liked Cabin Fever, it was quite good in my opinion, don't know why it is rated so low.
Blairwitch was also very scary, but i was a child when I saw it, it was midnight and i bought it as a real story.
Maybe the closest thing to horror for me was, Das Experiment (Germany, 2001) which really showed the human mind, it gave me the creeps.
For true fans, I suggest to look a bit further than hollywood. Italian cinema is often quite good for example, there are many cannibal movies. For me, horror is something that gives me shivers, and maybe even makes me think, its not pure entertainment. These movies are often labeled as dramas or thrillers, but not horrors. I feel scared when i feel somewhat close to the subject, like when exploring the usual human mind. Some cannibal mutants in the desert are just so far away that I couldn't even care. Todays so called horror is actually only splatter and terror.

i'm with ladie on this....when i watched 'the shining' i laughed a lot....jack was hilarious....i do find horror movies silly most of the time....but i still watch them sometimes to see if i'll laugh or actually get scared....the shining would be my favourite
Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody's watching
The Descent wasn't half bad. It had gore, but unlike most horror movies today it wasn't driven by the blood and guts. It reminded me of another far better movie, my personal favorite of the genre: Alien. That was one helluva creepy, atmospheric movie.

Exactly. That's why I liked the Descent. It actually had a plot.
I'm actually quite the horror fan, too. The scariest in this genre by far are the Asian horror movies IMO. At the Tribeca Film Fest a few years ago I saw a really scary Korean one called "Tale of Two Sisters." Ladie, you have to rent that if you haven't seen it!

The scariest of them all? Jesus Camp. Hands down.
