Ladie, If I were you, I'd ask everyone and anyone if they could recommend you for a job or if they know of anybody hiring. Almost all the jobs I've ever worked (except for maybe my summer jobs in college) were gotten through word-of-mouth.

Network, network, network...even for a home depot job. It's very competitive out there, and networking gives you the edge.
