I don't know, actually. I think after a lot of french kissing, a gentle, tongue-less kiss can feel really good. Recently, after an hour of intense making out with a guy, he gave me his "official I'm-going-to-miss-you kiss", (I was leaving the country the next day) which was a wonderful, soft but firm kiss without any tongue, and it was probably the best kiss I've ever had.

Regular kissing is always nice because it essentially initiates an array of other things (or at least potentially can), but it can become boring after a while.
French kissing on the other hand I feel has more passion, can be so much more meaningful, intensify the emotional bond, and it can also be amazing...That is, if it's not done in a sloppy manner (for example: drool everywhere).
