Baz buddy you sound like me, i am 25 and i still dont have a girl and i also have a good job and income, but i am not confident with girls too. I have noticed a lot of guys like us who are doing well and are good human beings dont usually get girls, or atleast get them really late in life, though i hope I am wrong. Girls are usally looking for cool and sexy guys who can also make them laugh all the time. Guys like us are left behind.

That's not bad. I dated a guy your height and I'm 5'8ish hehe. Everyone else pretty much hit it on the head, though.
Also, girls can sense desperation. Act like you're not concerned with the relationship issue. Pay attention, but don't immediately throw yourself at anyone just because you're afraid to end up alone. Be approachable, but not... on the prowl, I guess. To be at ease in social situations has to be one of the most appealing characteristics a guy can possess, imho.
