All kinds of good things. I just don't know about at Christmas time when it's rainy season. But Love Fest is fun. You probably don't want to stay in the Tenderloin district.

1015 Folsom is a pretty good club. Ruby Skye. DNA Lounge if you like EBM/Industrial/Sythpop.

    Depends what you're looking for.

Wow, surprised you've been around, Lite ... From what I remember, 1015 was a raver club that's open late to accommodate the e-tards. Ruby Skye is nice with the plush sofas and all. DNA lounge varies depending on the promoters ...

Raver, you missed out on the Cherry Blossom Festival in Japantown a couple of weeks back. When you hit up the Academy of Sciences, you can hang in Golden Gate Park ... there's a bunch of little shit there too.

And parking really isn't that bad ... there are convenient parking lots in the downtown area and I'm sure your hotel will have a private lot for its guests. Street parking would be more of a bitch, but you should be good for the places you want to be.
    no autographs, please!

1015 is good if there's a nice DJ playing that night and you're OK with the droves of Asian men without women standing around the edges of the dance floor trying to look stylish. There's a good chance that the people there are on something, but if you're drunk and just there for the music it's a good time. 1015 is great if there's a REALLY good DJ/concert going (ala Oakenfold/Tiesto).

If you want a little taste of music history you can check out who is playing at The Fillmore.

I managed to catch Information Society playing at DNA Lounge. Crystal Method @ Ruby Skye during Love Fest. VNV Nation at The Fillmore.

I've spent some time around the SF area. My wife lived there for 10 years, and I'd fly in to visit while we dated. I've wandered through Love Fest, the Castro, Folsom Street Fair, Chinese New year celebration. I know that Zachary's in Berkeley is the closest I'll get to real Chicago style deep dish pizza for 1000 miles. I've also spent a good deal of time in Santa Cruz.

I haven't been to SF in a year though. I also spent some time tooling about SF to Napa in Monster Cable's company cars. (Porsches, Ferarris, etc...)

damn so dec is the rainy season huh?? i guess it's not different than hawaii, but i'm sure it probably rains more in SF. i'll keep that in mind.

1015 huh?? sounds very interesting to me... oakenfold... damn, what i would pay to seem spin. priceless.

best western?? i seen them online and they had one of the cheaper price ranges. considering that we will mostly be using the hotel room to shower and sleep, the appearance of the room doesn't really matter to me.

They were a nice hotel, wine tastings in the lobby daily, etc.

Really you'll just have to see who's there when you go.

I stayed at the Argonaut when I was last in SFO... it was really nice. In the area you want, too.

Oh, and remember ... SF doesn't experience the usual seasons ... We don't get hot summers ... we get sporadic summer days here and there, but it's nothing you can plan for ... but when it's hot, it's time to get out and check out the breezies ...

When I was there in June of 2000 it was 104 degrees. Heh.

Oh, and if you want a nice (But semi expensive) dining option. Check out Espetus.

When I was there one time in summer, I nearly froze to death. We ended up leaving after one night and going to wine country instead. It was probably 110 at my house, and SFO was around 55-60 degrees. Brrr!!

its a neighborhood, not a street. And I bet your unlce is just trying to keep you away from the fun. If you avoid the entire tenderloin all together, you'd miss out on a lot of the coolest new stuff. screw the mainstream club scene (1015 Folsom,181 eddy, Rouge, 111 Minna, Ruby Skye, stick a needle in my EYE!), they are all superplayedout and primarily inhabited by 30somethings pretending to be 20somthings. SF is all about lounges, and hole-in-the wall bars. Stick with the local scene, you'll have a lot more fun.

^^^ haha it's funny that you bring the age into this because i'm just shy of 30. i'm actually 29...

but honestly i'm not really into the club scene anymore. it's too loud and crowded. i'm must more of a bar person...that is a bar with really really good food. OR... i love to eat out and fancy or whatever sorts of restaurants... i love good food!!

You're a tourist, so I don't see the need to have you visit hole-in-the-wall spots ... those places are more for local folks anyway. But if you want, hit up the Nag's Head bar on Geary ... It's chill.
