Sorry to be slightly off-topic but this brings up an interesting subject that I've wondered about lately. Rednecks.
Ten months ago I moved to Lower Alabama, redneck central. Everywhere I go around here I see a lot of inter-racial couples, mostly white girls (generally good looking) with black guys. Please understand that I have NO problem with that at all, but apparently no one else does either down here. Suprising. You would think being in the deep South it would be uncomfortable for them, but it doesn't seem to be.
Weird part is, when I lived in Los Angeles my ex and I were friends with an inter-racial couple (she was white, he was black) EVERY time we'd go out to dinner, or in one case the four of us went away for the weekend, we'd get these evil stares and dirty looks. And this generally occured in the so-called best parts of L.A.
Along the same lines, I've always worn my hair long, I come from a music business background and it's just my style. A few nights before I flew in here I happened to catch the movie 'Easy Rider' on tv. Got to thinking that 'wow, those rednecks are gonna shoot me because of my hair.' Had it all cut off the next day. Get down here, every fourth guy I see has shoulder-length or longer hair and nobody give's a s**t. All that's cool, maybe times have changed for the better, but it's not what you might think.
Rednecks. A weird breed, go figure...
