To elaborate on the former: If you like a girl for the social, the way they make you feel, the fun, the laughter and the flirting they are called friends, if you dont want any of the above just sex thats where gf's come into it. Thats the initial reason you get one anyway, but if it turns out to be the right one then all of the above starts to come into it and you respect them more and want to be with them, but thats rare.
