nomas I think it's so cool how much you travel... but how do you fund travelling so much, especially if you'll be unemployed soon ;x

Wow, sombra..that's so cool. I couldn't respond to the first time you stated this because Cybog closed that thread..anyway LuisMi never comes to Cruces..only El Paso and it doesn't seem like he'll be there soon..You're lucky to be so close to him this time, though. The man puts on one of the best shows ever. He's a classy guy who's all about quality and professionalism in his shows...hey, did you ever see Mariah in his "Vivo" video?

Tone, yeah, I've funded my travels over the last 5 years through my soon to be ex-job (Engineering). How I'll fund my future travels remains a mystery. I've got some $$ saved up for about another year of my travel whims, but after that I'll have to seek alternative resources. I've got some plans in mind..there are many ways. One is I may seek employment in travel related areas..or work at a job that requires a lot of travel. I could work at a cruise ship. I could do odd jobs and live verty thriftily until I can afford my next vacation..then I can do the work thing there (illegally if it's a foreign country where I'm not allowed to work) until I get to my next destination.

So you can do the 9-5 and make some paper to afford your vacations (in which case you'll also be at the mercy of your allowed time off, but you'll be living pretty good in between trips), or you can do the "free-lance" thing and be completely mobile and independent..needing only to survive you can be this mobile (i.e. if you have nothing tying you down..no family to support, wife, house, etc..)

I'm also thinking peace corps..though the cons here is that you don't choose where you go...you may end up in a very undesireable location...but if you're cool with just getting out of where you're at, this is a cool option. Then there's going back to school full time and then do study abroads, like to Europe where you can see lots of countrires by means of weekend trips.

There are many ways...you gotta give up a couple of things, though. If you don't mind roughing it a bit, it's not as expensive as it seems to travel..just not do a lot of the fancy things, maybe.

And I don't think this is a sad thread at all..why I'm all happy and excited about these upcoming plans! There's no need to be sad, Arty..we'll still have internet access...to you it's no difference, really..

I'm not really sad.. I'm really excited for you guys, all so very exciting. You're right. It's no difference to me really since I am so far removed from the 21st century... I must run now.. catching the bus so I can make it home to pick up harry potter 3 from my house.

one of my friends is going the peace corps.. i'm so excited for her too.. you can pick what region you'd like to be in.. my friend will be in the african continent.. she doesn't know yet where. and she's leaving in september.

i call her my twin because we're born on the exact same day of the exact same year.. and we met one day in international business class. (we shared the same major too, international business.)

still my dream to do something in travel... i'll wait til my son grows up a bit.. and off we'll go.. one more year.
