You said you hadn't seen her for a long time... were you two ever close? Did you ever have her number? If you answer yes to the above questions then you didn't do anything wrong as long as your text was in the lines of.. hey! its _____, i just found out you go to school w/my boy and wanted to say hi. I'm sorry for getting your number this way...
iF I recieved a random text from a guy that i didn't give my number to I wouldn't respond. However if I knew him from before and am in a position to talk then I'd probably text you back.
iF she hasn't then don't bother, give it some time!
