The only idiocy I see in this thread is taking this article as truth.

To be quite honest Bush-bashing has gotten very old and stale to the point where it's pretty meaningless. Cry more n00b, learn 2 play.

I don't think onion should be giving such dangerous ideas to someone who takes so little responsibility for his actions...
    Don't cry, don't regret and don't blame
Weak find the whip, willing find freedom
Towards the sun, carry your name
In warm hands you are given
Ask the wind for the way
Uncertainty's gone, your path will unravel
Accept all as it is and do not blame

You live in a place that has not seen the domestic end of a war since Pearl Harbor. Why does everybody in other countries spend time shit talking america? They don't have the right to shit talk about their own government like we do.

You may be living in a somewhat crappy time (what with the unbelievable availability of computers and cell phones, and a constant and consistent improvement of living standards), but you're living in a hell of a good place.

Now lets go kick some republicans out of office!
The US is a nation of sheep owned by pigs and ruled by wolves. I have lived in other countries and I must say that this country sucks. As a student of this country's justice system I've found it strikes me that not only does the system not work...but it is also counter productive.

For example, Marijuana..there are federal penalties in place called mandatory minimums...that require incarceration for people who grow this herb. Often times, these peaceful growers get stricter sentences then rapists, arsonists, and even murderers.

More over, why is Marijuana illegal but alcohol is legal?
Hmmmm,, I wonder if big corporate breweries like Michelob and Miller could possibly fund some politicians.

People have every right to shit talk america. America constantly sticks it's nose in the business of other countries. CNN tells us about how terrorists are always plotting to attack our country. We get the governement friendly spin on the news stories we hear. CNN never mentioned when our troops killed one of Sadam's "top henchman"...they blew up half the block and the day care center that was on it too.

This country is a pig shit....I hate it.

Most other places? Incorrect. Travel more. There are many better places.

My hometown! Good choice. By the way, voted best place to live in the world. Followed by Zurich. Zurich beat us last year.

BTW, I love my country (Canada), yet still fully acknowledge there are better places to live. And not to insult, but America would not be one of my choices. I still love you guys though.

Vehement discontent with one's own country or government is a sign that someone is just beginning to get a clue about how to look at things. Once their discontent drives them to examine what they believe might be better alternatives, they "get" that the higher up the international relations ladder you climb, the more utterly anarchy prevails. It's about then -- much later down the road -- that they begin to have second thoughts about their original discontents, and begin to notice just how well their country and their government are actually handling things for their people at the time in history.

Better is a subjective term. No place on Earth is better than another, it just offers different things to different people. Personally I've done quite a bit of travelling. There are hundreds of places I'd love to visit time and time again but I'd never want to live there. To be so livid over the place you live appears to really be focusing on the negative side of your home. Either way there isn't much point to bitching. If you loathe it so much, move. If it's too much of a hassle to move then it really isn't as bad to you as you claim. Finances and realism are irrelevant, if it's that important you'd make it happen.

    Agreed.

My bf is from India, and he insists the quality of life there is better than it is here. And he may be right....maybe it is better.....for HIM.

Yep. My sentiments exactly, Zekk. You don't like the news? Go make some of your own.

The point I was trying to make is akin to the story about the son who thought his father was soo dumb that he left home and, upon returning 10 years later, was amazed at how smart his father had become.

I disagree. I think that it can be objectively demonstrated that certain places ARE better to live in through statistics on mortality rates, lifespan, poverty rates, education, access to health care, etc.

Of course, this doesn't mean that people won't prefer to live in less desireable locations, but they will certainly yearn and/or strive for improvements in deficient areas.

For the record, I strongly disapprove the current administration, but I can't imagine living anywhere else. Good and bad will always have to coexist, and fortunately, we have term limits.

This thread is about to make me very angry.

It took everything in me not to say some very mean things to people here.

If you don't like this country so much, as they say in the internet world: GTFO.

I agree with DEBUNKT. My goodness people.

I'm confused Tone - there was only one person who said he didn't like living in this country...
