Yep same thing with my grandfather as well Tone. And yes actually my grandpa told me about that (the saving private ryan deal because it was too real) he actually introduced me to the movie and got real emotional every time it came on.

It's true though.. there's a lot of people that can't even sleep without having night terrors about all that stuff.

Yea.. I never paid attention in History class ( passed but slept most of the time). But since I have been dating my bf he has explained a lot to me about that stuff considering he is an ex marine and loved history. And he makes me watch those old war movies and documentaries.. it's crazy stuff I tell ya!

I loved how real it was.

The whole thing with the Soviet army sendin their troops out, and when the troops tried to retreat cause they were so badly outnumbered, they were shot by their own men.

Also the very end. (I'll try not to give too much away for anyone who hasn't seen it) but I loved how real it was... you know where like most movies would have made some big elaborate fight scene / action sequence. Nope - not here. Straight to the point. LoL

LOL... yes very good movie! I own that movie and watch it from time to time still.

Have you guys seen "band of Brothers"? that's a good series as well. It has Ross from friends in it as a drill instructor/Lieutenant...that made me laugh!

    War is so ****ing crazy.

It's amazing what it does to the people who survive it.

My grandfather passed away a few years ago, but he was in the army and he was in WWII and I always wanted to, but never got a chance to talk to him about any stories he has. I would always wonder while I was in the basement at their house lookin at all his badges and awards.

Incase you guys missed it, interesting story:
