Arty!! It's been a long time, girl!! How are things?

The reason this book is so controversial is that it questions the foundationof the Catholic faith by questioning Jesus' divinity and making Jesus human rather than God. Also, it charges the Catholic church with corruption and suppression of truths about Jesus and his early followers.

But, yeah, the author acknowledges that it isn't factual. Still, I guess the concern is that people will begin to question...
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Hey Vash! Good, good, busy, busy.

And people haven't questioned it before? This isn't the only book out there that presents this theory. The other books passed this theory as facts.

Of course, hundreds of years ago, people like me would probably be burned at the stake or something.

I know *I* have, and of course, there is quite a lot of literature about this in academic circles, but I think this is the first time this line of thinking has had such a wide audience, and what with the recent scandals of the Catholic church, I doubt they are pleased about having even more to defend.

A lot of this book is based on factual information, too. I guess that is another reason it is scary for the Catholic church.

I finally saw it! I thought it was good! I wasn't expecting it to live up to the hype so I wasn't disappointed, I suppose. I thought the acting was ok too. And there was Hanks. (I wish there were more unknown actors in movies though-- the power of celebrity overwhelms the character portrayed.. which is partly why I liked FireFly/Serenity so much- not knowing the actors makes believing in the characters so much easier)

yeah, as far as I know it's the first time this subject has been brought up so strongly in a block-buster movie of this scale. Certainly it's notable alone for the fact that the main characters did not kiss. Wow, huh? The forehead kiss doesn't count.

[spoiler!] I found it strange that they decided to keep the secret hidden.. I mean.. maybe I missed something, but essentially, the church was in a conspiracy to keep this revelation ultra secret, and our hero's have this big adventure to discover it.. and then they decide to keep it secret?.. wha?..

It's fiction, made up, not real. Sorry

oh my gosh! Crunor.. wow.. I thought it was all real.. and.. tom hanks, the actor, and the girl who played Amelie too.. and they had a film crew follow them on their real adventure and......!!!!!

kidding.. sorry, I couldn't help be sarcastic I was talking about the plot of the film, and how I didn't quite understand the ending of the story.

the funny bit is that if it had been real, then me and everybody who's read/seen the book/movie knowing about it would show that they DIDN'T keep the secret, so then why would I say i'm confused about them deciding to keep the secret?

edit: though to me, the part that Jesus was just a regular guy was always true (that is, before I saw the movie too), but let's not get into that debate ^.^

being a film maker, i thought the movie was absolute trash. I expected better from Ron Howard, and ALOT better from Tom Hanks. The acting in it was substandard and to be honest, the script was too mainstream for a subject like that. That code has so much backbone and controversy...why bugger up the script with a love stroy that didn't even work within the boundaries of the cinematography? Tom Hanks needs to pull his finger out. I honestly thought John Travolta would have been better in it, he's more convincing in challenging roles like that.

The basis of the story was great...the movie was trash
