i ran into a guy in one of my classes at prom this past year. He introduced me to his date/girlfriend..she was the manliest woman i'd ever seen..so the following monday i come into class and he's like "OH MY GOD LOOK AT MY AWESOME HICKIES!"..he had about six grouped together on each side of his neck. it looked like she choked him viciously and threw him around. he wore them proudly. ever since then i avoid hickies on my neck. they feel fantastic..but i'd rather keep them to myself then make them public and have people talk about them behind my back like i'm talking about my classmate.

i had a girl once that gave me one between my hip bone and my bellybutton. that felt really good.

I play violin, and thus have a "violin hickey", aka chin rest mark (although it's almost disappeared now because I haven't practiced in a year). My first day of college a girl came up to me and said nervously, "Do you play violin?" I was rather incredulous, said "yes", and she replied, "Oh good, I was kind of worried you had just said goodbye to your boyfriend or something..." Yeah, never had a real hickey, but the violin one is good for laughs sometimes.
