First, I'm pretty new to these boards but here is my take:

Just call her dude. You're going to abandon all hope cause of a RUMOR you heard from a friend? What if he was just kiddin or *gasp* wrong! You never know if you don't try. Give her the benefit of the doubt. And I've been in your situation, and that's why now I go for things right away cause I HATE playing the "what if" game. Talk to her and get it over with. See if there's anything there and be done with it - if there isn't then you can at least move on knowing you tried your best. Instead of spending another 4 years always sayin "What could have happened if I called her..."

If she does have a b/f then well, there's no harm becoming friends right?
