Yeah, it really does depend.

If this is a girl that barely knows you, and you two are just getting to know eachother, then more times then not...it prob. not the best move just yet.

If you were on a date with somebody you've known for a while, and you know that the feelings are mutual/there in the first place, then more times then not, it's a good move.

Yeah, if you barely know her then don't hold her hand.

It would seem like you're desperate to get into a relationship and could well freak her out. At least she'd find it a little weird. In my experience, holding hands is a stage of it's own in a relationship - the stage when you're both comfortable with each other - especially in public - because it's a very public thing to do and is showing others that "we're together" (wether that being your intention or not).

Just relax, enjoy the date, ask her questions and let her talk and talk and talk...

Exactly, trust me...we as humans just have that instinct of when things should happen and then it just happens. Just be sure that she knows that you like her, that way she doesn't think your not interested in her after awhile.(Girls tend to do that to deny something) After a few dates, if things go well trust me, things will fall into place.
