Songs of Breakup and Lost Love

Since the breakup of my last LTR this year, I've been maddeningly in tune (only in my head, my singing sucks) with crappy, sappy pop breakup songs. My kids know my "no Gotye allowed" rule, and if I have to listen to another rendition of "Last Christmas"... and what's the one where the guy says "you'll always be my best friend but I had to breathe" - what a lie :-)

Anyone else find themselves hung up on sappy breakup songs?

This said, despite being painful some music speaks so eloquently of the feelings. One getting airplay now that I feel this way about is "Little Talks" by Of Monsters and Men. Although the lyrics are about widowhood, I think they poignantly capture the nuances of getting over lost love even though the person you love(d) is still in the world but a ghost to you because they chose to leave your life.

I rather like that track "Little Talks" which is odd because I extremely rarely like anything contemporary.

I myself don't listen to sappy songs to get over issues but I don't listen to bro-tastic, emotionally overcharged fag rock. I just listen to my regular stuff.
