I'm no expert, but no, it isn't just adult women dressing up as kids. There are actually little girls involved (small waists, small or no boobs, big innocent eyes, short height, charachters actually SAY that they're children). Of course they're just drawings, but I can see why someone might find it disturbing.

I dunno what kind he watches exactly because the thought of hentai has always reminded me of child porn :S all I know about his favourite one and the one he usually watches when I am out if something about a girl trying to kill some octopus thing and then the octopus penetrates her with one of the tentacles and she tries to resist and then ends up enjoying it.

I have never seen the appeal in that kind of porn. The wide eye look all the characters have and the high pitched voices would bug me too much for a start

Yeah, it is sick, IMO. It's basically child porn, just not illegal and with no child actually getting hurt. I'd be concerned if my bf watched those type of things on a regular basis - I understand random curiosity (after all, I googled it too), but to actually get off on that stuff is pretty sick. I think you should talk to him about it - show him those pictures in case you need to make a point. Maybe he wasn't referring to that after all, there's plenty of hentai porn involving teenagers (post-pubescence), so that would be OK I guess, a huge part of "regular" porn is about teenagers anyway (which I personally find pretty sick as well, but hey, better than children!).

The whole idea of hentai makes me uncomfortable as most of the characters look so young, whether they are meant to be young or not. The noises they make and their voices sound young too which makes it even more sick.

Yeah I do agree with what you are saying about the teenage part. I might take a sneak at his fave one. He told me the title of it so it'll be easy to find on his laptop and see if I really do have anything to worry bout. I know I'll be uncomfortable watching it regardless though
