You're both responsible for getting over it. Swallow your pride or fear or whatever's holding you back. Take a breather and come back to him/her in a week. If you see each other regularly (via school, work, etc.), then talk to other people and keep yourself from focusing on the distressor for a short while. However, you are still responsible for initiating some contact with him/her and trying to make things better. Otherwise it'll just turn into a spiteful downward spiral. You can let it continue or man up and try to fix the problem, whatever it is.
