vash, I would never make a big deal out of it if he chose to insult you one on one, or on BB or in BJ. but doing it here is wrong.

Thank goodness I'm Canadian. All the insults about Canadians are just really lame somehow.

That's because you haven't actually contributed anything worthwhile, at all. This is also why Canada doesn't offer history classes.

Hey, our dollar is kicking ASS right now. I'm a bit worried actually. If the US really bites it, then that would make Canada the #1 nation... I'm not sure we're up to that. We're more like the quiet, classy wife of the loud, brash billionaire.

So long as it involves a mostly horizontal exercise program, I accept.

I personally think that that needs to be judged on a post by post basis. Doppel-lol does on occasion make me lol (and I mean litterally lol not just smirk or giggle I mean laugh out loud at my computer causing everyone else in the room to look at me and say what), other times he infuriates me and once or twice I have been surprised by the intelligence of his seemingly straight up and real comments. I comment on the funny and the intelligent. I ignore the infuriating.

And just for the record, there are good trolls and there are shit trolls. Doppel-lol is a good troll. How do I know this? He took a thread about racism and turned it into a thread about him, without even trying! Bravo! Doppel-lol! That's some mighty awesome trolling there!

So sorry, Indi. Didn't see that before I started typing....

In my defence I've only been awake for half an hour. (it's 7.07 am for anyone who cares.)

Maybe the reason Asian people prefer to be identified specifically is because there are three distinct regions: the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and North Asia? The people from these different regions have very little in common, not even general physical characteristics.

On a different note: I like some of the trolls. I think you all should just lighten up. This particular troll is adorable, and isn't at all racist.
Vashti, what I was referring to more was the fact that to the rest of the world, our black fellas can't just be called black when describing them to someone internationally. You have to specify Australian Aboriginal. I don't know a single Koori that refers to themselves as Australian Aboriginal. I personally though black was black. And that's where I think racism gets ugly... wel uglier.

I was actually discussing the Asia thing with mum last night and she said a similar thing, but added that even the skin tone changes. Then we got into a discussion about how few 'blue' people seem to be left (people so black they have a blue sheen) and how the colour coding of our skin seems dodgy at best. (As a kid I asked why we called black people black when they are actually brown. I'd love to see the reaction if a 5 yr old asked that these days.)

As I have said before, you can't eradicate racism until we are able to look at people without seeing a difference. And no, Bo, I am not just talking about being colour blind. I am talking about just accepting that peoples is peoples and essentially we are all the same. Once we realise we are the same, then we can work on respecting differences. Am I making any sense?

Oh and I would just like to add now, thoroughly entertaining thread! If it had ended up all about racism it wouldn't have been half as fun to read. :p

Why do I get the feeling I would end up being 'the stupid one' (comparatively speaking of course) and would be cast in to a Cinderella role? :p
