After 6 months of dating we had our first fight.

It started after i made a comment about her potato chip eating habit last friday when she got home from work, she went straight to the bag of chips and i made a polite comment about waiting for dinner first. then she says " go f*ck yourself " in her serious voice didnt say anything else to me the whole night. Well that was my last straw, she has been stressed and slightly depressed from an overload at work and seems to take it out on me when she gets home. We stay together everynight either at her place or at mine has been like that for a while and is great i love to cuddle up to her all night. Well after her spill friday i decided it was time to have a talk with her saturday, so i told her that im upset because of the way shes been treating me because i dont deserve to be treated like a piece of trash and talked to the way shes been acting. i told her that im here for her if shes having a problem at work to talk to about it but not to be verbally abused by her. i told her that it makes me feel like she doesnt love me and is trying to push me away. SHE said she was so sorry and never meant to do that to me because she loves me with all her heart and wants to spend her life with me. then she started crying and i held her for a while. then she said she just gets like that because she needs sometime to herself since we stay together everynight and she feels like just coming home and being alone sometimes when work is bad. so i said ok and didnt see her for 3 nights and saw her last night for dinner and a movie. then today she called me while she was at work and told me that she was super tired and wanted to come home and go to sleep and wanted me to come cuddle with her and she would call me in when she was on her way, then she calls me no less then a hour later and said she was going to go see a baseball game with some guys from work tonight and would call me later, NOTE she hates baseball and iv asked her to see and game with me and she said NO.

sorry for the long write up but i dont know what to do.

I don't quite know what to make of this, but the potato chip incident sounds like a classic stress outburst. She probably just wanted to relax, and your comment irritated her and provoked an outburst. If I was massively stressed and felt like someone was criticizing me - particularly for something trivial - I might lash out as well. Not that she's justified, but... that's probably all it was.

It sounds like you guys have been spending loads of time together and could just use a little breather. She'll probably start acting normally again once she's had a few days to unwind. I wouldn't sweat it yet.

The occasional disagreement or even fight is normal and even healthy. It's worse if both people just stifle themselves to maintain an artificial serenity in the relationship. Just be sure to fight fair. Stay on the topic and don't take any cheap shots. And Tremolo is right, after six months of being together every night, you two need to give yourselves a little bit of breathing room. Don't neglect your friends and family, let them stay a part of your life too.

Still sucks she blew you off like that though. Made plans to spend time with you, breaks and then spits in your face by going to a basball game which she hates???? People may say, oh that's nothing, I'd bet she'd take serious offense if you did this to her. G'luck with you relationship man.

Sounds to me as if it's indicative of something deeper.

Why would you feel compelled to "make a polite comment" about her eating potato chips before dinner? She's not a child, she's perfectly capable of making decisions for herself about her diet, even if she makes a decision you don't like. She's not your child, she's not your charge, she's an adult human being.

I think she blew up at yet another controlling "comment" and you took offense.

I agree with heartisaching. She is allowed to eat potato chips if she wants. Why are you nagging her? I would have been irritated with you, too.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

I'd get really irritated if my GF told me to "wait for dinner" before I have my snack. She's not my mom, I can do what I want. If I want to eat nothing but potato chips, that's what I'll do. You need to respect her this way.
