Was this a weird response?

I met my friend's wife for the first time over the weekend. When he and I were alone, I commented to him that I thought she was nice. His reply to me was "She's a good person. A good mother. Her moods are steady." I thought that was a very strange response. What do you guys think?

Give us some context. Does your friend always talk like a mad scientist? Was his last relationship with some bipolar chick? Did you ever hook up with him in the past?

I've known him for about 18 months. Most of the time, he's quite normal during conversation. He and the wife have been together for 30+ years. I suppose I expected him to say something like 'yeah, she's great, we have alot in common, she's always there for me'. Maybe something more personal than she's a great person and her moods are stable. His response didn't 'feel' right, if that makes sense.

Average relationships last, what, six to seven years? If they've been together that long, mutual respect and fidelity is the best they can hope for. I'm sure he likes her. But this was an honnest comment from a good guy, and they are in a better than average relationship.
