I'm afraid of going to college 4 hours away from where I live for fear of my small family forgetting me. They don't want to drive to see me and I don't have a car. Advice?

My parents abandoned me... my mom is still in my life, but she doesn't really take care of me-- my grandma has taken care of me since I was a newborn. She has some health problems-- she's 65 years old. My great aunt has provided for me financially and she's my grandma's sister. I have a aunt that is very strict and mean-- but I know she's there for me and loves me. I have 3 sisters and that's it. The rest of my family doesn't have anything to do with me. I'm more afraid something will happen to my grandma or great aunt and I'll be without a home.

People who love you won't forget you, trust me. Just keep in contact by phone or skype, and try to concentrate on making your move into adulthood and keeping your grades up.

That is what telephones, emails, voice chats, and weekend visits are all for. It sounds to me like you would best be served by sharing your fears about being forgotten to those you are afraid will forget. Then you can work out some way of staying in contact.
