i need your help, robot...

is there good software for ubuntu for a flash player.

i have adobe but the volume shuts off on me where i have to close firefox completely and sometimes i have to restart my computer to get the volume back.

i'm just guessing this is a problem with the flash player. this only happens when i'm watching videos online like youtube...

It's sometimes easier to catch him on AIM, misombra. In the mornings....
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

I think this is the first time I find a thread about me lol.

There's a project for a flash-player plugin replacement called Gnash (which you can install from the Ubuntu Software Center or Add/remove thing in the applications menu), but back when I tried it a couple of years ago it was a lot worse than the official flash plugin... have you tried updating the flash version?

This might be too technical, but if you are running 64bit Ubuntu, you are probably runninh the default flash player on Ubuntu which has given me some trouble, it's better to install the 64bit version (If you don't know if you are running 32 or 64 bit, I'll tell you how to check it).

Also, for youtube videos you can try Minitube (from the Ubuntu Software Center too), it may work better than the flash plugin.

Go to Applications->Accessories->Terminal, paste this line in the window it opens and press enter:
uname -a

It will tell you something like this:
Linux localhost 2.6.35-22-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 20:45:36 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Copy that to me and I'll tell you what to try. (and you can close that window already)

Hmmm... that's 32 bit, it should be working quite decently as far as I know..

You may be able to install another version of flash player with this, but I'm not sure it will have a newer version of it and even if it does, it may keep doing the same thing. If you wanna try minitube, I'm sure you can install it through the program on that link too, maybe that will work for you?

That program I linked you is pretty easy to use, but if you have any trouble tell me and I'll try to guide you through it.
