If you met someone you really liked, but the timing wasnt right, either they were already with someone or something like that.
whats the longest amount of time you held out hope that something could happen?

A couple of years, hah
Either right timing & circumstances, but wrong person, either right person, wrong circumstances.
I'm right in the middle of something like this timing is really wrong for us. Only 1 and a half month so far, and I really hope this waiting game ends soon, this is my first time in this situation, and it's very hard.
Why spend your life waiting? If something can be done to change the situation, change it. If nothing can be done, don't stress on it and don't wait.
If you two want to make it work, make it work.
If he/she is in a relationship you should respect that. Would you really want someone who backs out of a committment that quickly? Like the old cliche; if he'd leave her for you, he'd probably leave you for someone else too.

Several months.. but I was younger and naive haha.. that's alright, valuable life lesson =)
@all alone: The good things are worth the wait. I'm 32 and over my first marriage, so I know what I'm talking about
@mywitsend: not everything can be changed by either of you, but you are right, if he/she is commited, then move on, it's not the right thing to break them up.
I would never wait around for anyone.
I did once, I waited about a year, then I realized how much time i had wasted and vowed to never do it again. Its a lesson that has to be learned honestly. There was no one that could've talked me out of waiting at the time, but now, there is no chick that could ever convince me to wait on her lol.
