You're not single but have other potential interests..

Let's say you aren't single, but your gf/bf can't be around you whenever you want; you have a long distance relationship while you're at college.

But there's this available girl/boy who CLEARLY indicates interest in you, and from what you know about them, you would consider them as potential partners.

Would you pursue a relationship with him/her knowing he/she doesn't want to be just friends?

obviously, you're going to meet and get to know people while you date someone else but you start off as friends..but is it ethical to get to know someone who doesn't see you as a friend?

I'm not sure if this is how dating works, because I've never really dated, but I'm confused..

No, it's not ethical. This is why long distance relationships are not a good idea.

That whole "starting off as friends" thing is kind of bogus. If you find someone attractive and you might want to date them in the future, your friendship is already compromised.

only ethical if you break it off first..

if you want more experience in dating.. then maybe it's a good idea to break up first before doing anything.. and give it some time for ur significant other before you jump ship.. 1.5-2 months at least..
if i can get your feedback on my post, that would be great!

Not ethical. Long distance for college kids is almost certain failure.
