Who is 'right'?

Friend A: dating new guy for 2 months, they very much like eachother. She has still been spending time with her friend so she hasn't done the disappearing act... (yet anyways)

Friend B: could be a bit jealous of the new guy and the potential he might 'steal' her away. A & B are besties.

Situation: Friends of ours are having a housewarming this past Sunday. All of us are invited and attending, we've known about this for about a week. Yesterday Friend A gets an invite to go to the new guy's family dinner. Big deal! So Friend A decides that this is importand and she should go. She does see the couple (who is having the party) for the whole day, gives them the gift and wishes them well. She then goes to dinner and even returns after the dinner.

Friend B was livid that Friend A sold out (even though she sort of didn't really...). Friend B says A is being all selfish and stupid selling us all out blah blah blah. A even told the couple why she was not attending the actual party and the couple wished her well and was happy the new relationship was progressing nicely.

I'm biased but I think that B should butt the hell out. The only person A had to answer to was the couple. It was their party, not B's.

What do you guys think? Just curious.

Friend B is FOR SURE not the best friend of a Friend A, that is for sure. Best friends don't say such things and always wish their best friends all the best.

But bottom line, from the way YOU'RE telling it, Friend B is overreacting.

At the same time though, if Friend A is KNOWN for pulling the disappearing act whenever she gets a new boyfriend, I can understand Friend B's concern.

sounds like A is going OUT OF HER WAY to attend both.. even if she didn't return to the house warming party after supper with the bf's family she would still be in the right.

I totally agree. A has never had a boyfriend here (previously all long distance) so she's not KNOW (yet) for doing any sort of disappearing act. And so far, it doesn't seem like she has... at least I see her just as much as I used to.

Friend B is engaged to be married in a month- she's the center of attention and has a man on her arm, she's the furthest thing from a third wheel. In the last 4 year Friend A has been B's third wheel, she's finally not. Maybe B's just jealous A seems to be happier with her guy than she is with hers...

Yeah she is all about what I want, is what I get... (yes, but within REASON!) She's turned 3 of her closest friends against her since her engagement. (Friend A her bestfriend, me, and anti sharfin girl) Funny thing is, she STILL doesn't understand why, or how!
