Yep ... hit the nail on the head.

There was nothing for me to be offended about ... I don't use one for my kid, but I understand why people do.

I never needed a 'leash'. One cold hard stare from my father was enough to keep my ass in line. I didn't dare run off anywhere.

I wasn't soft when my kid had one. I was pregnant, and he could run faster than me. lol

Also, by the time they are old enough to object, they are also old enough to be reasoned with.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

    All right, smartass.

You can't say that to every person who feels the way I do about leashing up children.

A leash is a symbol of a lack of parental responsibility
    .
I'm talking very young kids, not those of school age old enough to know better.

Way to make this into a personal argument. I bet you were offended by my post.

Parents are supposed to be there to prevent their kids from running off, getting kidnapped, and hit by cars.
It's the same way with dogs, you know. The reason that people put dogs on leashes is because they can't train their dog to be obedient.
The exception with dogs is that some dogs simply will not obey; they are animals with their own instincts and we cannot expect them to immediately know how to walk alongside us.

I don't know what excuse a parent has to leash up their kid, though. Feral children? lol

    edit:

I just asked my little sister who's just learning how to read how she would feel if mommy leashed her up. She knows what a leash is because we got her a Nintendo DS and that dog game. She said that she wouldn't like it and she'd be embarrassed if another kid saw her.
Hmmm, i have 6 dogs, 5 of them will stay by my side even if i walked through a busy shopping centre, they would also all sit and wait if i tried to cross a busy road..all this with no leash on. But that doesnt mean i would do that, i would never walk my dogs in a busy are without the precaution of them having a leash on. It doesnt make me a bad owner, it makes me a responsible owner, the same can be said for parents who use a leash that attaches to a harness or wrist band, its just as an extra precaution as kids will be kids and sometimes when shopping for example, it would be easy for a child to run off suddenly or get distracted whatever, the leash just ensures that doesnt happen.

I used one on my son for a while, until he stopped letting me, it made things so much easier.

We can run but we can't hide from... comparing kids to dogs Isn't it kind of sad?
I never was on leash, never saw people having kids on leash and I think I'll stay traditional about it with my kids

I wasnt comparing children to dogs. i was comparing the theory behind using a lead. you should try walking round a busy shopping centre, hands full of stuff while trying to catch your toddler that has spotted something interesting and is running off after it.

Don't have to take it personally , qwerty, I was referring to everybody, obviously since few post everybody was comparing having a child on a leash to having a dog on a leash.
Anyway, people used to go out with kids without putting them on a leash, and somehow the world survived ,hence I think it's silly to use a leash on a kid.

Why is it silly? Its fair enough if you dont want to use one on your child- thats your choice, but to say its silly..silly how? because you think so?

It's silly for me because I never even thought of keeping kids on a leash . I imagined using a leash on animals or as a SM toy, that's why it's silly to me This is my opinion, everybody has their own

The leash is just unnecessary. My dad use to just give me piggy-back ride.

I note how the people against a leash are the people(i think) have no children. Just an observation.

So what, Qwerty123 ? I see other people handle kids without putting them on a leash - this proves it's possible to raise a child without treating them like an animal. Moreover, majority of people succeed this big task without silly accessories like baby-leash . Am I wrong?
