    Rate yourself!

Just curious... on a 1-10 scale, how attractive do you think you are? Do you think how you view yourself is congruent with the way others see you?

I ask because someone numbered me today. I'm sure this has happened numerous times in my life, but no one ever TOLD me my number.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

    7...what was your number?

I was interested in this very question, so I took it to HotorNot.com. Apparently, I'm somewhere between a 9.1 and a 9.8. Still working on narrowing the margin of error.

I don't like the idea of rating myself on attractiveness, it's too superficial. I prefer for people to rate me on the quality of my actions and decisions instead of my looks.

It isn't even so much about that... more about how we view ourselves differs from how others view us.

For example, my mother until recently was morbidly obese, but she thought she was about the sexiest thing alive. Apparently, some men agreed with her, because she managed to get married 4 times, with each husband being an improvement over the previous one.

I agree. We even had a whole unit dedicated to this (frames of reference) in the class I finished last semester. The idea is that 10 different people will view the same situation 10 different ways and a leader who has good people's skills should find a way to see that situation from those 10 different perspectives before making a decision and then make a decision that addresses all 10 concerns. Remember that mum vs law exercise I posted? That was from the frames of reference class. Funny enough, in the class itself we also had the same, one half of the class accused the others of betrayal, while the other half accused the accusers of criminal intent.

But to answer your question, my perception of myself differs depending on who I interact with and on the mood I'm in. Sometimes I see myself as the others see me and sometimes completely opposite. It's not a solid constant, but a fluid process.

7, which I admit stung a bit at first, but considering I am an old hag that was being rated by a young guy in his prime, I suppose it could have been worse.

    I would say a 7.

I think 7 is pretty good looking...I mean maybe my scale is different...7 means I'm a fairly good looking guy but not brad pitt...But I also don't think most guys look good so its hard for me to judge...while I don't think I look that great, a lot of women tell me I do so I'm going off what I hear.

Nothing wrong with a 7...I'm sure your totally hot Vash.

I know. In truth, I probably would have given myself a similar number. We can't all stay young and beautiful forever, I guess. Dammit.

Women are almost always more pretty than men anyways. I mean there are pretty men out there but they are rare.
