    Foul Breath!

Ok so I was dating this guy. He was really cute & sweet, I liked him alot. We both grew up in the same little town, altho I'm a few years older But the only thing was.........HE HAD HORRIBLE BREATH! I couldn't believe how nice he smelled everywhere else, cologne and such...but his breath was awful. It smelled like rotten eggs and dookie or something! I tried to act like I was shy or playing hard to get, altho I really wanted to kiss him sometimes because he was so adorable! I even offered him gum once but he said NO! I just couldn't bring myself to actually KISS him, like with tongue and all. I could barely get close enough to give him a quick kiss, and then he would open his mouth and....ugh! Nasty!

How does a person NOT know their breath smells that bad!?

I think a lot of people fail to understand how important flossing is for nice breath.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

You really can't smell your own breath. Like any scent, you eventually become desensitized to it.

That said, flossing and not keeping your tongue clean are the two biggest sources of odors,IMO. Lesser causes would be diet or gastro issues, as Pepit mentioned.

He should have taken the hint when you offered him some gum =)

Not drinking enough water is huge too. I notice if I go without eating for long periods or drinking water then my tongue gets white fuzz on it and even I can tell my breath is asstastic.

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
    blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
    A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
    Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
    Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

If he doesn't take the hint, you can just tell him. It might hurt his feelings a bit but it would be an improvement for him.

If I were you, I would just offer him a mint, and then take one myself. And if that doesn't work, I would hold my breath, and do something sexy like kiss him, and slip the mint in to his mouth with my tongue.

There's always slipping listerine in to his drink.

But if all else fails.......just tell his funky butt that he needs to brush more regularly!

My best friend has fairly bad breath, I can smell it from across a table, and I have a poor sense of smell. But his dad is a dentist, and my friend is always telling people to floss, so I assume his dental hygiene is good. Maybe he has bad breath because he's a mouth-breather.

Now that I've been taking Lunesta I definitely sense rotten mouthage. I use Listerine like crazy but am still a little paranoid. I'm a tongue scrubber and flosser too but I still taste assholes on my tongue.

Yea like QofC said when I take sleeping pills I have some awful morning breath but I also brush my teeth and tongue and floss daily so my breath doesn't stay that way.

It could be that he isn't brushing but it could also be a stomach problem...or it could be a sinus issue as well. If he has a sinus infection or constant drip that back flows down his throat it can cause that....I know it sounds gross but it is true. My friend had to have his nose fixed cause after he had it broke it didn't drain right and it would back flow down his throat and give him "asstastic" breath.
Completely baffled by a backward indication
That an inspired word will come across your tongue
Hands moving upward to propel the situation
    Have simply halted
    And now the conversation's done

Bad breath is a major fail. Does that guy you are talking smoke or something? Because if he does, that is one factor. If he isn't, then let's just say he doesn't brush teeth often.
