I'm relatively new here and I had an idea/proposal.

Don't be too hard on me, it was just a passing thought:

I've read through this forum a lot and I see that there are a lot of people in a lot of different stages.. Obviously that's the reason we are all here. Some in bad relationships, a lot in heartbreaking situations, etc... But one thing I do see is a lot of potential in everyone who posts here. Lots of different personality and lots of great people..

So bare with me here.. I know this is not at all a dating website, but perhaps there could be a "speeddating" type of thread in which people can mingle and get to know each other.. I think for me, and potentially for others, it could be a great way to take our minds from the people we are trying to forget as well as potentially meeting maybe a great friend or maybe more. What does everyone think?

I think internet relationships are a poor substitute for a real relationship.

They already have dating websites the cater to a user's region.

We're all spread out across the globe.

One guy here actually did meet a girl here and moved across the globe.

But he's a little off his rocker, so that's an exception.

I suppose like anywhere else, it depends on who you were asking.

But I suggest you start by getting to know them first.

There's not even anyone I'm trying to date right now based on just looking at stories and advice. Just an idea to get to know someone new (without the physicality aspect) to take my mind off of someone i'm trying to get over.

Why do you want to date? can't you just chat with friends?

Chatting with friends doesn't really help you not to desire the girl that you want to cut ties with. At least it doesn't with me.
