    Speed Dating??

(once again, I don't know what the right place for this topic is)

Anybody want to share their experiences with it? Is it worth it, what kind of people could you expect to meet, i.e. in looks, personality?

You'll meet a bunch of B grade actor types with huge checklists of their desired partner and no time to delve into your character or image and see if meet the levels on any of them. You'll be doing much the same, but eventually fixating on the girl with the best lips, hips, and nips.

You'd have better luck speed rollerblading in a Pepe Le Pue suit through your city and casting out "I wuv yuo, dawling... and yuo! and yuo! mmmmm smooch, yuor gowrgis" remarks.

I would do it if I were in the dating market... Most people know within a few minutes whether or not they would date someone, and because these dates are time-limited, you won't have to worry about how to get rid of someone 45 minutes into dinner.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

I think probably 90% of whether or not people end up dating is based on physical chemistry, regardless of how they answer stupid interview questions.

    For the record, though -

I wonder how they figure out who is compatible, though... do they look for people who answer questions the same way, or do they go for the "opposites attract" aspects?

Who would YOU connect with on a LF speed date, sonrisa?

I think it's really meant as a fun night out more than anything else.

A former colleague of mine met her husband there but it was sooo random.

She met Man A there that she liked. This guy was hanging out with his mate Man B.

At the end she didn't bond with Man A but Man B managed to get her phone number and called her out of the blue.

They are now happily married and have 2 children.

I would love to attend this kinda evening for the laugh...
"Oh I could spend my life having this conversation. Look, please try to understand before one of us dies"

Been once, doubt I'd go again. Out of 10 guys, most were serial speed daters. One guy was pretty drunk. I had one match, we had a date a week later and it went well in a matey kinda way. Didn't hear from him again.

According to what I saw on Okcupid, you have to answer a bunch of tests, with a question saying "what would someone have to answer for you to go out with that person?" - the system simply compares the results of the second question vs the first of other person. and vice versa.

A few of my friends have tried speed-dating. It seems to be a complete waste of time unless you're a quick-witted extrovert who is good at small talk and weird situations.

My experience with speed dating is limited to having seen The 40 Year Old Virgin five times. It seems like a crazy idea.

I've been on dates I wished were speed dates before.

I went with a friend once. I wasn't really looking for anything serious at the moment, and just wanted to provide her with moral support.

She is very outgoing, beautiful, funny, and quick witted. She loved it, and ended up dating a guy she met there for several months.

I am shy, socially awkward, and have the kind of looks that "grow on people", I HATED IT! That said, I met one guy there who I went out with a couple of times. Weirdly, even though I found him the most attractive during our brief speed date, we had no physical chemistry whatsoever. I think I was so nervous about being forced to have an interesting conversation with strangers that I couldn't really concentrate on my actual connection with them.

I think it works for some people, but is definitely not for shy people.
