    Her Diary, His Diary

    HER DIARY

Saturday night I thought he was acting weird. We made plans to meet at a bar to have a drink. I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment. Conversation wasn’t flowing so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk, he agreed but he kept quiet and absent. I asked him what was wrong – he said, “Nothing.” I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset. He said it had nothing to do with me and not to worry.

On the way home I told him that I loved him, he simply smiled and kept driving. I can’t explain his behavior; I don’t know why he didn’t say, “I love you, too.”

When we got home I felt as if I had lost him, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore. He just sat there and watched TV; he seemed distant and absent. Finally I decided to go to bed. About 10 minutes later he came to bed and to my surprise he responded to my caress and we made love, but I still felt that he was distracted and his thoughts were somewhere else.

I decided that I could not take it anymore. So I decided to confront him with the situation but he had fallen asleep. I started crying and cried until I too fell asleep. I don’t know what to do. I’m almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else. My life is a disaster.

    HIS DIARY

Had a bad round of golf, but at least I got laid.

    I've read that joke before.

What I wonder is, from a guy's perspective: How true to life is it?

    I'd say it's about 90% accurate.

I've been with a girl like that. She over ANALysed everything I did to the point of twisting every little thing out of proportion.

Words can't begin to describe how much I hated that. All I can say is, it was all about her insecurities.

Well at least when my man comes home after a bad round of golf he doesn't go all sullen and distant.

He comes home and describes it, usually with a string of expletives attached. Then he gets laid (so he's in a better mood )

    .
You're really not helping, you know. What incentive does he have to improve his golf game if you're going to reward him so well for failure?

Yeah, trust me it makes no difference but for a minor mood lift.

A bad golf game will drive him nuts all week.

80% accurate. Happens regularly, but not to that extent.

There's a very simple example of male-female interaction difference:

You are at work. A team project a colleague is supposed to have finished an important part of isn't ready, which is screwing up your own schedule.

He/she comes in and you need to deal with this.

    To the guy you say:

    To the woman you say:
Second thoughts can generally be amended with judicious action; injudicious actions can seldom be recovered with second thoughts.

Two things about men have always helped me out with the "translation" bit. First, men usually like to live in the 'here and now,' and second, men like to keep things simple.

So apply that to this situation:

What's going on in the here and now for the guy?
    He played golf today.

His behavior has changed negatively, what is the simplist possible explanation based on the 'here and now'?
He had a bad round of golf.

I've also noticed when it comes to men... if nothing is brought to their attention, they will generally assume the relationship has remained the same. More often than not... it's the woman who will notice a change in the relationship... and almost 99% of the time, she will be the one that brings this to a man's attention.

In fact, he's probably relying on the woman for progress reports about the relationship. Why? Because she's doing that anyway. Why waste the extra energy worrying right along with her?

    37000 members/55 moods = not copying

Its just like the classroom birthday problem.
