Who is more shallow men or women?

Who is more shallow men or women? There are many people who say men are shallow, and they force physical standards to be met. There are others who believe women are just as shallow.

This is just from my own experience. I have seen some of my male friends who are considered attractive by girls, go out with girls who are not every attractive. None of my female friends have dated an ugly guy.

I would say women are more shallow since they give more importance to appearance and materialistic things. Just look at all the dumb shit they buy into to improve their looks: makeup, jewelry, hair, nails, fashion, purses, etc.

I dont think you could say men or women are more shallow ,,it depends on the person and their tendencies.

I disagree. The OP is asking a general question. So it's okay to look at each gender as a whole and categorize either one as more shallow than the other.

    Define shallow.

Men in general are interested in short-term sexual conquest.

Women are interested in things that will increase the chance of their offspring surviving and furthering the human race.

Is this your definition of 'not shallow'?

Marie Curie. Two nobel prizes for her work on radioisotopes.

Anyway, my use of the word 'furthering' was ambiguous, tho should have been obvious in the context of the rest of my sentence.

    But I will clarify:

Women are interested in things that will increase the chance of their offspring surviving and propagating the human race.

Again, looking for a working definition of shallow.

no. I was simply asking a question in response to an isolated comment you made.

"Marie Curie. Two nobel prizes for her work on radioisotopes."

haha, I stand corrected. I'm not going to be an ass and ask you to name more.

ugh, I really don't want to be studying neuroanatomy right now. It's so tempting to read and respond to posts online.

Kandel & Schwartz. Good textbook. Better than a straight anatomy text, will give you some context.
