Growing up in Chicago and witnessing so many gang fights and so much more...
Losing friends to this, Losing family...

I just ****ing hate that people are just out there doing this to each other.
I wish it would just stop.

:49 is Derrion Albert. He got hit and then people kept stomping him in his face and kicking him. He died and was buried Saturday I believe.

I was listening to a story about violence in Chicago schools this morning. Apparently, there have been fights almost every day at Derrion's school for the last three years because a school about five miles away was shut down and the students were redistricted. Apparently, these kids are so limited in their scope that they see someone from five miles away as some kind of alien threat invading their territory.

Imagine living in such a small, sad world that your own neighborhood was all you knew and all you cared about. I think of all the amazing places I've been in my life and about the fact that a lot of these kids will very likely never even leave Chicago, ever. School is supposed to be a place where you learn about the world and about your opportunities but instead, these assholes are out in the street, hitting one another with 2 x 4's.

Thanks, Chicago. Thanks for making Santa Fe look like a cosmopolitan city full of enlightened youth.

That is so true. I was fortunate enough to leave Chicago and I am never going back.

Violence in schools have been like this for years. Longer than 3 years. The security was heightened but they never really did anything. Kids would smoke on campus. drink alcohol, bring knives to school and so much more.

I am part of the solution. Instead of allowing predators to roam freely let's start doing something. Prison should be the most horrifying place on Earth. The very, very few who ever leave it should be gibbering insane, released solely to scare the rest of the vile scum from tormenting the innocent.

How many cars do you think would be stolen if there were a bunch of former car thieves roaming around with their right hands missing?

How many rapists do you think there'd be if the ones who were caught were only released into the public after being castrated?

How many murders would we have if the punishment was so horrific, so shrouded in mystery that people could only guess at what became of the few who committed them?

Fight fire with fire. Round up those gangbangers and have them beaten to death as a message to anyone else who'd do such a thing. For once let's let the criminals live in fear.

But you know what? Those murderers will go to prison for a few years. Ten or so. Probably get out after five years good behavior. In those five or ten years they'll pump iron, meet hardened criminals, form connections. When they get back on the streets they'll be meaner, tougher and more violent than ever. And more innocent lives will be shattered in violence. All because we're too cowardly to make a stand.
