    Musings & Marriage

So I have a cousin about my age.

Interesting fact: When we were toddlers I was so much smarter than he, his parents took him to the doctor to check if he was retarded.

But I digress. Haven't seen the guy in about 15 years because, well, I'm like a ****ing Vietnam vet will all my bitterness and brooding. No need for family or some shit like that. I don't know. More likely I'm just a lazy SOB. Anyway, I digress again. As I said, guy's about my age. He got hitched recently. I know because pictures found their way to my inbox and I didn't immediately delete them as I'm wont to do.

It's so bizarre. Sure, I've seen people my age and younger who are married. But here's a guy I fought with over a ****ing GI Joe when we were six. Here's a guy cried because our uncle's dog liked me better when we were 8. Here's a guy was scared shitless at 10 when we went camping by ourselves in a little patch of woods down the hill from the family cabin. And here now is a guy who's got himself a ****in' bride.

    Blows my mind.

Feel like if I blink my eyes I'll be burying a childhood friend. Blink again and I'll be rotting in a nursing home. Won't be time enough for a third blink.

lol....how the fck did he do that?! lol

c'mon we know what a lot of women are like (especially in the US-no offense but the irish are less pushy). they give men time limits and men who are less secure than you will likely say ok, lets do it. i don't agree with this pressuring going on. 50 percent of the time it ends in divorce.

He married a chick. Cute one, I might add. Still, when I hear a guy just got married my first instinct is to wince and say, "I'm sorry to hear that." Like he just confessed to having a bad case of crabs.

Yup, time flies. Blink and it's gone. Reminds me of the time I did my head in when I was lying in bed with my ex looking at the house thinking the house will still be here when both of us are in the grave.

Life is so temporary and these are the good years, it's all down the hill from there. One of my co-workers is in his late 30s and he's going to the dentist to have three of his front teeth taken out today. They're going to put a nail into the bone and screw the fake ones on top. I wish we could just freeze the age we are now.

Sounds like a good intro for a longer article, Grib.

Well, I guess the updside is that you're so damned stingy with yourself, you're technically getting more life since you don't share your time with anyone.

    You fool.

Gribble, life is short, but it's supposed to be wide. Would you get a girlfriend, already?

Hey, maybe that's why I look so much younger than my cousin.

I know life is short. And that's exactly why I'm not going to get married, have kids, work 9-5, retire, die. Like everybody else. Screw that.

Don't need no stinkin' girlfriend. What I need are friends and the occasional warm hole.

That's so funny Grib, I'm almost in the same situation (except that I don't hate on marriage).

My cousin, one year younger than me, announced he was getting married this year. Shocked most of the family because he's a little 'special'....has ADHD and has never held a steady job or relationship. I STILL see him as the kid that my sister and I used to pick on......not some grown up getting married. I think if he has kids I might have an aneurysm.

I've had a hard time getting a grip on the idea I'll be 30 in a few months. It doesn't make sense to me, because I'm sure I was in high school two years ago.
