    age difference

Ive just started dating a guy who is 14 years older than me.
Its very early days as weve just been on a couple of dates, but i was just wondering what people think to this? and any problems that could arise?
I knew how old he was before starting to go out on dates, so it doesnt really bother me im just interested to know what other people think and also if anyone else has a large age gap in their relationship?

    It depends...

A fourteen-year age difference wouldn't mean much if you're 30 and he's 44, but it could mean one Hell of a lot if you're 12 and he's 26. A little more information might get you better answers.
    When in trouble,
    Or in doubt,
    Run in circles,
    Scream and shout.

I think that's still a pretty significant thing. If you were ten years older, it wouldn't be anything at all, but what this looks like to me is a guy who doesn't want to grow up.

I did the chasing..at the start- to get the date- he was slightly reluctant before we actually went on a date due to the age alone, but hes seen that im quite mature for my age as i had to grow up quick. He is also young at heart (not immature) and does not look his age.
I dont see it as a problem as it is just a number...but am asking here to gage others thoughts/reactions to it.
Obviously its still early days anyway.

At 22, you are still growing into the woman you will be. He is pretty much done. This means you will likely outgrow him in a few years, so if you intend to date him, then I suggest you not get too attached.

    Gross- on both of ya.

Half plus seven. Learn it, live it.

    36/2+7=25 FAIL.

That formula is wide known... at least it is in Canada.

Gross why? Because it's simple really- you're young, he's not.

Wait- just think about it- it's decently logical. As another posted said the age gap means less as you age. Which is why he said 14 years at 30 (you) wouldn't be a problem but since you're younger it matters a whole helluva lot more.

    but why??
Im just interested to know why it is more of an issue because of my age...im 22, already have a 2 yr old son so have had to grow up, and am happy with that...
so why is it more acceptable for a 30yr old to go out with a 46yr old than it is someone my age?

Because of what Vashti said. It's more about him being gross than you, IMO. I feel that there's something deeply wrong with a guy his age dating someone so young. it reveals deep character flaws, IMO.

I remember being 22 and having much older guys chasing me around. it was flattering until someone pointed out that they were like vampires trying to feed off of my youth.

    Yuck.

but thats the thing...i did the chasing(i didnt actually know how old he was at the time, but it makes no difference to me) he was very reluctant at first when we both realised the age gap, but we have got on really well so far.

You asked, we answerd- we think it's gross.

Then you ask why- we tell you that at 22 and 36 2 people are at different stages in life.

Then you try to explain how perfectly normal it feels for you.

So WTF. If you don't care, why ask- because obviously you DO care. Yes, you will be judged, as will he. And remember we're just annoyomous, faceless screen names. Your family, friends and aquatinces are real people.

If it don't matter, it don't matter- but I think it does.
