    Alternative lifestyle anyone?

I searched 'BDSM' in the forums and was rather surprised at how little there was out there.

So, what does that mean? We're all supposed to become interested in BDSM to satisfy the diversity crowd?

Comes as a shock, I know, but we still retain freedom of choice.

No, what I'm saying is you should be interested in hot air balloons and day glow underwear, but I'll leave it up to you whether or not you're interested in BDSM.

Actually, I was just surprised that on a diverse/international forum dealing with all things intimate, that there was so little on the topic. It's like going into a library to find out the Sci-Fi section only consists of Asimov, Heinlein, Anthony, and Modesitt Jr. - all great authors, but there's still so much more out there.

It says something about the culture of the forum, and that's interesting.

It is simply an empirical observation or it there a normative clause that will follow?

What, in your reading of this fact, does it say about the forum? Beyond the noted absence, I'm curious to hear your take on it.

You question my motives but label me a cynic?

There's no curiosity here - only an obvious attempt to draw out something you can pick apart as abusively as possible, though in a vague enough manner to claim innocence.

Given that I haven't alluded to my take on the subject, why does the very idea of BDSM threaten you?

I'm extremely interested in learning more about BDSM. But I have little personal experience. Go for it, doll. Start a thread, someone has to be the first.

What type of BDSM are you into?

I like Femdom, queening, hotwiving etc but I'm not making a thread because I talk about that shit on another forum, which I'm not actually allowed to link to because there's a rule against advertising other forums here on LF.

That's not rough... Sorry, but it isn't.

Rough in the BDSM world is Simulated rape, complete with forced physical takedowns. Shoving needles through your skin. Branding. Cutting. Punching (closed fist)... Drawing blood...

On the far other side, BDSM can be a very beautiful exchange of trust and power.

It just depends what you're into. There are very scary people that are into BDSM, and very normal folk.

Some people get off on shame, others sensory deprivation.
"Well, then," the Cat went on, "you see a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad."

    Sniff...sniff, sniff....I think I smell Identity Politics.

    Identity Politics
    1. Propose some idea to Others in a subtly judgmental way, as if to say, "Why haven't you taken time out of your life to consider my hidden agenda/interests?"

    2. Take whatever response you get from Others as a criticism by the close-minded, bigoted, Status Quo Crowd.

    3. Marinate oneself in Victimhood.

    4. Lash out, now "knowing" that the Others are threatened by any new ideas/concepts proposed by the Open Minded You.

    5. Establish a political base whereby you can Educate Others so as to make them (an if you can get it into legal code...force them) into being accepting of You.

There's nothing quite like Tolerance that you can enforce, is there?

I'm not surprised there isn't much here about BDSM. Very little of what goes on here is about sex. I've been posting here for years and almost all of the subject matter is relationship dynamics.

Feel free to expand our horizons!
