How do we act more like friends and less like a couple?

Here's the deal. I'm a guy (27 years old) and I have a VERY good female friend (24 years old). We've been friends for many years and we often do stuff together. However, it feels like many people perceive us as a couple, people who do not know us of course. For example when we go out for a couple of drinks or when we travel together, it's very hard for me to attract any serious attention from girls. Almost all of them seem to think that my friends is actually my girlfriend. It has to have something to do with our behaviour. How do we avoid being perceived as a couple? Obviously we're doing something wrong...

Well, when you're at a place, how close do you sit together? Do you touch eachother, even jokingly? You should pay attention to the vibes you send out. Of course, do you also go out with others, or is it just the two of you?

Um, no. You're probably not doing anything wrong aside from expecting girls to somehow know that you're not "with" your friend. They're just being respectful of a well-established boundary.

If you want to attract girls, don't hang out with a girl. Duh.

Giga has it down pretty solid.

If you're out with a girl, almost anyone is going to assume you're a couple because the risk vs. reward isn't worth it if they're wrong.

I have this problem when I am out with my brother, too. That's just the way life is. Giga is right - if you want to pick up girls when you are with her, tell her to bring a date.
