Princess cut diamonds are a sham. They give you a bigger diamond by not cutting the diamond into a proper "round" (ideal) shape. The corners become stress points in the mounting, and then they chip and the diamond falls out of the mount. Good luck.
Not to mention that diamonds (as admitted by DeBeers) are inherently worthless. Their worth is entirely artificial. They're really not that special.
I gave my wife a pink radiant cut (less likely to chip and get lost than a princess cut, and also more ideal for the stone's reflective properties) sapphire in a platinum band.
As for the engagement, I told her we were going to Portland for the weekend, and about 2.5 hours into the drive pulled off onto a highway and drove her to Astoria (Where Goonies was filmed) instead where I had rented a room at a hotel that is built on a pier 600' into the Columbia river. When we woke up in the morning we could see ships sailing up and down the river right outside our balcony.
"Well, then," the Cat went on, "you see a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad."
