How about: "You deserve a guy way better than me. I’m a piece of sh*t. Seriously."

well, if you find that there's something wrong with girls who admire you or enjoy your company, then... ygg is right. be honest with them. if you won't give people a chance to be your friend you'll never know if they would make a great companion.
The male is a domestic animal which, if treated with firmness, can be trained to do most things
Like I said, scare 'em off. Make them be glad to be rid of you, not rejected by a hottie. Plus it's fun :-)

yeah, but people cling to him because he comes off as a pleasant guy, they don't expect him to be the one to say, sorry you are not my type,

Getting rejected by the nice sweet ones are the worst. Sometimes I wish they almost were assholes so I wouldn't feel like I was missing out on a catch.

You know, I am not to sure I would use that line I posted.
Girls are sorta attracted/challenged by what they can't have.
It may make him worth "fighting" for.

I've tried companionship in the past, it doesn't work. I don't know about you but I personally see a sadistic intent in stringing someone along and leading on someone who is attracted to you, but you are not to them. If they are attracted to you and you are not to them you have a moral obligation to end it right there and then and not torture them with "you can see me as friend only" bs. I'm not going to torture her.
Don't cry, don't regret and don't blame
Weak find the whip, willing find freedom
Towards the sun, carry your name
In warm hands you are given
Ask the wind for the way
Uncertainty's gone, your path will unravel
Accept all as it is and do not blame

Can't you just hang out with her and play dumb? And then if she tries to make a move, just be like, "Ummm, what're you doing, you freak?!"
But seriously, sometimes our intuition is all messed up and we think too much into people. I don't think it's necessary to reject her before she makes a solid move. Just play it like a typical dumb male. Or how about hanging with mutual friends to avoid the "Me and Mish did this together" stories?

Actually, always asking if you can bring a friend is a good tactic.
be overly enthusiastic, like everything is soooooo wonderful, the day, the sunshine, the flowers, life the sea, my life, your life, oooh oooh look how purty thos flowers are ouh ouh i lurve the way that sound of wind makes me think of this poem
you are so beautiful to meeeeee
when i see you i flutter to the kneeeeeees
blah blah until she thinks wtf did i just get into
Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody's watching
I'd just be blunt. I got into a helluva mess with a girl at work over something similar. Man, she was thick headed though.
Is it burnin'? Well, f-ck, now you're learnin'.
I don't understand why play dumb and pretend when I know exactly what her intentions are? It seems to me ending it now in the early stages will save a lot of problems which will come if I end in the later stages which I would need to do anyway if I accept her invitation. If I ask someone out I'd prefer them to be blunt with me if they are not attracted to me and not tell me a couple of months later. I'd question their intentions if they did that, to me it would look like they lead me on just so I could stroke their ego.

Well, you originally said you didn't want her to feel rejected and being blunt would do that. And you know what your intentions are ... I mean, the obvious thing to do would to be blunt of course, but I thought you were looking for an alternate route.
