The guy has to pay for your faithfulness via a ring? When I got married... I just wore the damn ring because it was custom and symbolized I was 'married'...
For the most part... I found the whole marriage ceremony and the ring especially to be far too tainted with old traditions that once held women more like property...
If a person wants to know if I'm faithful... all they have to do is ask... a fancy ring does not show how great the man is... rather it shows how much of a gold digger the woman is. In modern times... it is beginning to reflect poorly on women as we move closer to 'equality' between the sexes.
Seriously.. if the woman gets a fancy ring... why not give the guy something of equal value to show his 'faithfulness'... like an expensive car... or better yet... something that will cost a lot and only increase in value... like a rare collector's item?
The whole tradition is ridiculous... a man has to fetch some metal and a pebble to show how much of a good provider he is? If you don't know this by the time you decide to marry him... you probably shouldn't marry him.
