there's a disease effecting all the pines in the west. they're already uprooting themselves.

they say all the pines in the west will be a thing of the past, thanks to global warming.

That nickel plant has been around for years. Even before the prius.

But it is somewhat true that those batteries are very bad for the environment. When those things go bad they're terrible for the environment. Any battery, alkaline, nickel metal hydride, lithium ion, nickel cadium, or lead-acid, are all bad for the environment.

Regular cars use lead-acid batteries. So they're just as bad. Lastly the batteries are almost always properly disposed according to local laws.

But besides the point Prius's are overpriced, ugly, and retarded. The amount of time it would take for you to regain the amount of money you spent on the prius vs. a civic would take forever. Also by the time it does start saving you more money you're going to need to replace those batteries.

You know what's ironic about the whole 'green' thing? According to the IPCC, 15% of greenhouse gases emitted into the air are the contribution from agriculture.

Looks like it may have been a bias article.

In another forum, they were discussing how switching to electric cars will increase the need for electricity, therefore tax the the coal plants which are our most used source of energy. Unless they can truly come up with "clean" coal, I would say nuclear would be the cleanest and most efficient way to create energy.

Or... we could slowly cut off our dependency on energy over time.

Well, one would think that agriculture would *help* the greenhouse gas emissions.

well since people use big huge trucks on agriculture land instead of buggies and horses like they used to, i would say it's less to do with farming and cattle and more to do with modern technology.

    Prius - $22,000
    Civic - $17,000

it was worth it for me. car is paid off 5 years later. not needed to change battery yet. don't have to service it or change oil as often as regular cars. paying $20 per tank. going 350-400 miles per tank. having only 8 gallons to fill up.
